Our Approach to Innovation
It’s not about creating products for the sake of change, it’s about developing smarter, safer and more efficient solutions that genuinely make a difference across the UK water industry. Every new idea begins with collaboration. By working closely with water utilities, contractors and engineers, we can observe real challenges in the field.
Our approach combines creativity and technical precision. From concept design to testing and refinement, we use real-world trials and feedback to evolve our products until they meet the highest standards of reliability, safety and performance. Each development phase is focused on delivering robust solutions that stand the test of time.
That’s how products like the UnJammer Valve Release Key, cQuick2 Encapsulation Collar, X-Shell End-Restraint Fitting and Haldi Hydrant Safety Clamp came to life.
Each product originated from a specific problem and were developed into a solution that improves efficiency, reduces downtime and enhances safety.
R2M believe innovation happens when engineering expertise meets real-world experience. We’re proud to be leading the charge in developing products that push the industry forward, combining technical excellence with a commitment to helping the water sector work smarter, faster and more sustainably.
cQuick2
Leaking collars and couplings used to mean costly shutdowns and time-consuming repairs until R2M developed the cQuick2. Designed in collaboration with Severn Trent and Anglian Water, this innovative two-piece encapsulation collar allows live, permanent repairs in under 40 minutes, eliminating downtime and keeping water #AlwaysOn.
Haldi Clamp
Corrosion on fire hydrant pins and screws was creating safety risks and unplanned shutdowns. R2M developed the Haldi Clamp, a device which secures these critical components and can be installed quickly without excavation or shutdowns, helping water companies maintain supply, protect staff and reduce operational disruption.
UnJammer
When valves seize, emergency shutdowns often affect much larger areas than necessary, which can cause disruption, downtime and significant costs. The UnJammer changes that. This portable, easy-to-use device allows teams to free stuck valves without specialist support, eliminating shutdowns and keeping the water flowing efficiently.
The Process: Stages of Innovation
Collaborative Problem Solving: We start by working closely with operators, engineers and technicians to fully understand the problem in context. This phrase ensures our design goals align with real-world challenges faced by the customer.
Concept Testing & Development: Our team explores multiple possible solutions, sketching ideas and building prototypes. We use feedback loops and practical trials to refine concepts and ensure only the most effective designs move forward.
Engineering Excellence: Once a concept is proven, our team transform it into a robust, manufacturable product. We ensure that each design not only performs flawlessly but also meets standards for safety, reliability and longevity.
Designed for the User: Every innovation we create is built around the people who will use it. We focus on ergonomics, safety and intuitive functionality to ensure that our products make life easier, safer and more efficient for the customer.
Built for Longevity: Durability and maintainability are core to our design philosophy. We select materials and construction methods that reduce maintenance, resist wear and extend product life to create long-term value and reduce lifetime costs.
