Encapsulation of Leaking Under-Pressure Tee
At the start of 2025, our team was contacted by Severn Trent regarding a leaking under-pressure tee in Market Harborough, Leicester. With the leak worsening and the surrounding area already filling with water, a dependable and timely solution was essential to keep the network operating without disruption. On Monday 13th January, our Business Development Manager for the Midlands, Mark Beesley, attended site shortly after the issue was reported. Mark being local to the area allowed for a swift assessment of the situation and the immediate development of a suitable bespoke encapsulation approach.
Following the initial visit, our installation partners were contacted and arrived later that morning to conduct detailed measurements. Once the leak area was safely pumped down, they captured the precise dimensions needed for manufacture. Their fast response meant that production could begin without delay, which is critical when dealing with an active under-pressure leak.
Because the existing fitting required a custom-made solution, a standard product would not have been appropriate. A fully bespoke encapsulation collar was designed, manufactured and quality-checked within 24 hours, with production completed on Tuesday 14th January. The urgency of the situation shaped every stage of the process, ensuring the collar would be ready for installation the following morning.
On Wednesday 15th January, our installation partners returned to site to install the bespoke collar. The fitting was completed smoothly and immediately resolved the leak, restoring asset integrity and preventing further service disruption. From the initial call to final installation, the entire project was successfully delivered within just three days.
This project reflects the type of work we undertake on a day-to-day basis.
