Supplying Butterfly Valves for Mythe WTW
During the Mythe Water Treatment Works upgrade for Severn Trent, our team played a vital role in delivering large-diameter, WRAS-approved Butterfly Valves under very tight timescales. The Mythe site was being fast-tracked to install a UV water‑treatment plant to mitigate public health risks caused by cryptosporidium in the raw water drawn from the River Severn.
One of the key challenges for the project’s engineering team was sourcing the DN 1000 and DN 600 Butterfly Valves required for the phase‑one pipework within the constrained programme. After other avenues failed, R2M was brought in to supply exactly what was needed. We sourced 3 x DN 1000 Özkan Double-Eccentric Butterfly Valves from Turkey, as well as 12 x DN 600 Hawle Double-Eccentric Butterfly Valves, ensuring they met the WRAS specifications required by Severn Trent.
Despite some delays due to customs checks at the EU border, the valves were delivered just in time for installation in the second week of June, aligning perfectly with the construction schedule.
By providing these critical components on schedule, R2M enabled the successful integration of the new UV treatment infrastructure into the existing system. Our contribution helped Severn Trent meet the aggressive delivery timeline and deliver this important public health upgrade at Mythe WTW.
