Rapid Response to 12" Main Leak
When the customer contacted R2M on a Saturday evening regarding a significant leak on a 12" cast iron main in Spalding, Lincolnshire, our team immediately responded to support their situation. Three repair clamps on the main had failed and initial attempts to isolate the area revealed that the existing gate valve was inoperable. This escalated the issue to an urgent situation requiring swift intervention.
As AVT’s UK distributor and with over six years’ experience supporting live valve insertion projects, R2M quickly coordinated logistics and arranged for the necessary equipment to be transported to site. Working closely with our installation partners, we ensured that the customer had a fully supported installation plan in place within hours of the initial call.
By Monday morning, our installation partners were on site to install a 12" EZ Valve on the live main. Their expertise in working under time-critical conditions enabled the valve to be installed quickly and safely, with no need to interrupt water supply during the process. This allowed the customer to establish a diversion around the damaged section of the network and carry out the required repairs without impacting customers.
Thanks to the combined responsiveness of R2M’s team and the professionalism of our installation partners, the operation concluded smoothly and resulted in more than 3,000 properties maintaining uninterrupted access to water throughout the work. This successful outcome reflected both the efficiency of the installation and the strength of the collaborative approach with our installation partners.
This project highlights the core strengths of R2M’s installation service: rapid response during urgent situations, seamless coordination between all parties involved, and the ability of our installation partners to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
